- NCSBN and Pearson VUE do not provide any document to candidates or third parties as confirmation/proof a candidate passed the examination
- Pearson VUE Quick Results are unofficial and not proof of passing the examination.
- It is entirely the decision of the nursing regulatory body (NRB), which owns the results if it will provide proof of passing documentation to candidates or third parties. NRBs may send any document/letter per its process, or it may simply issue a license.
Proof of Examination when Applying for A New License
The nurse was licensed
If the applicant meets ALL 3 criteria below complete a Nursys Nurse Verification for Endorsement (which includes proof of examination).
- Tested for and originally licensed by any U.S. NRB (excluding PA and CAVN, see below)
- Was ever issued a permanent license by any U.S. NRB
- Applying to another U.S. NRB
But if the nurse meets ANY of the below criteria, contact the NRB that owns the result (usually the NRB the nurse originally tested for and was licensed by) to request verification of licensure (which should also include some confirmation/proof of examination):
- Tested for and originally licensed by Pennsylvania (PA) or California VN (CAVN)
- Tested for and originally licensed by Canadian or Australian NRB.
- Applying to any NRB outside the U.S.
The candidate passed but was not licensed
Contact the original NRB they tested for to request one of the below depending on the NRBs involved:
- Official score transfer is if the candidate is applying to an NCLEX participating NRB and both NRBs participate in score transfers. (More information including the list of NRBs that do not participate.)
- If either NRB does not participate in score transfers, the candidate will request, from the NRB that owns the results, for confirmation/proof of examination documentation to be sent directly to the NRB where the candidate is applying for licensure.
